To commemorate World Maritime Day 2020, WISTA International President Despina Panayiotou Theodossiou, sent a congratulatory message to H.E, the IMO Secretary-General Mr Kitack Lim, on behalf of the Association, mentioning among others:
“Sustainability, as we all know, is not a short-term measure. It needs a strong commitment by all stakeholders in order to create long-term value. Sustainability in shipping, in particular, is about collaboration within our community and our relationship with the oceans. It is about environmental stewardship and diversity being recognised as tools for a successful future.
On behalf of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association, I congratulate the International Maritime Organization on this World Maritime Day and reiterate our commitment to continue to support, encourage and applaud efforts focused on our most important resources: people and the planet.”
